Who We are
USSAF is a black women Charity organisation located in Oldham Manchester united kingdom. We strive to make education an empowerment tool for BAME communities to achieve and various challenges they face in life due to lack of quality education. Majority of BAME residing in Manchester are Refugee communities from different regions of Africa and due to sad events that happened in their home country, majority of them did not manage to get formal education. Life has therefore been a mountain to climb for them especially within the western culture and society that regards education as a highly important aspect of both individual and community growth.
USSAF was therefore established in October 2017 to bridge the differential education gap between BAME communities and the rest of the society. We achieve our objectives by offering guidance to parents and their children about the UK school curriculum and also carrying out societal projects that would boost BAME communities enrollment in education institutions regardless of their age.
USSAF came to be as many people found it increasingly difficult to get particular support for people in the BME Community group. NGO’s and multiple charities have canvassed this group but with no real success as there is no real connection with the people or understanding of the people.
Unity School Support for African Families (USSAF) then started this initiative to fill in this void and create a platform for both sides i.e. the BME’s on one and the NGO’s, charities and the government on the other, to be able to positively interact with one another.
The creation of USSAF was initially designed for Africans to gather and help each other as a collective but as the formulating of the ideology progressed. USSAF became more about integrating Africans with the rest of the community.
