Mama Health and Poverty Partnership Hubs Across Greater Manchester
The Mama Health and Poverty Partnership (MHPP), funded by the National Rotary, is proud to lead the development of six community hubs across Greater Manchester — in Oldham, Rochdale, North Manchester, South Manchester, Central Manchester, and Bolton.
Each hub provides a welcoming space for families, parents, and individuals to access vital support in health, education, and well-being. Our hubs aim to reduce poverty, promote inclusion, and empower families to thrive.
A key part of our work focuses on educational mentoring for parents. Through interactive sessions, we help parents better understand the school curriculum, become more involved in their children’s learning, and build stronger home–school relationships. We also create open discussions about the challenges families face in education — from language barriers to digital access and financial stress — to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Oldham Hub
The Oldham Hub supports families, refugees, and individuals with no access to public funds by providing access to food, essentials, and educational mentoring. Our team works closely with schools and parents to deliver education-focused sessions that explain the school curriculum and encourage parental involvement in their children’s learning. We also discuss the barriers that prevent families from thriving in education and connect them with local resources and advice services. The Oldham Hub continues to be a vital link between families, schools, and community support networks. Read more
Rochdale Hub
The Rochdale Hub is dedicated to helping families overcome social and educational inequalities. Our mentoring programmes guide parents on how to support their children’s academic progress and engage effectively with teachers and schools. We regularly hold group discussions where parents share the challenges they face — such as homework support, school communication, or learning difficulties — and we work together to find practical solutions. The Rochdale Hub also provides health and well-being support to strengthen family resilience. Read more
North Manchester Hub
The North Manchester Hub delivers a variety of family learning and mentoring sessions aimed at empowering parents from diverse backgrounds to understand and support their children’s education. Many of our participants face language barriers or limited familiarity with the UK education system, so our workshops offer guidance in accessible and culturally sensitive ways. The hub also connects families with health, housing, and social care services, helping to build a foundation for long-term success. Read more
South Manchester Hub
The South Manchester Hub focuses on empowering parents through education. We offer mentoring programmes that help families engage more actively with schools, understand academic expectations, and support their children’s emotional well-being. Through open discussions, we identify the barriers parents and children face — including cultural pressures, financial challenges, and lack of access to resources — and provide targeted advice and community-based solutions. This hub also plays a key role in promoting women’s health and family development. Read more
Central Manchester Hub
The Central Manchester Hub serves as a vibrant centre for education and community empowerment. Our mentoring sessions equip parents with the tools to navigate the school system, communicate confidently with teachers, and take a proactive role in their children’s learning. The hub fosters collaboration between schools, local organisations, and families, ensuring that educational success is a shared goal. Alongside this, we provide support in health awareness, financial advice, and mental well-being. Read more
Bolton Hub
The Bolton Hub combines educational mentoring with community support, helping families to overcome the daily challenges of poverty and limited access to resources. Parents are guided on how to help their children with schoolwork, manage expectations, and build a positive learning environment at home. Regular discussions at the hub highlight the barriers that prevent families from fully engaging in education, allowing us to design community-driven solutions. The Bolton Hub continues to promote equality, resilience, and self-confidence among local families. Read more
